CHAGRIN VALLEY BEAGLES
Celebrating Beagle-mania most weekends
September through March!
The Chagrin Valley Beagles offers a family friendly and accessible way for those who enjoy the outdoors to come together and observe a working pack of Beagles as they search for rabbits in beautiful Northeast Ohio.
ABOUT US
The Chagrin Valley Beagles were founded in 2015 as a way to bring awareness and education to the local community surrounding the traditional sport of Beagling. Beagling as a sport has a rich history dating back to the early 1900's and a number of packs have called Northeast Ohio home throughout the ages. Our pack consists of both male and female 12" Beagles and on any given weekend we will hunt with as many as 6 1/2 couple (13 individuals). We rely on a network of generous landowners to host our weekly hunts. Without their passion for the country lifestyle, our sport would struggle to exist. Our Beagles seek out the scent of the common Eastern Cottontail Rabbit. Once the Beagles find their scent they will follow the rabbit until either the scent is lost or the rabbit returns to it's warren. Once that happens, the huntsman blows 'gone to ground' on the horn. The huntsman then lifts the Beagles and moves them to a new area to hunt in hopes to find another Rabbit to chase. Beagling is a family friendly sport completed on foot. The focus is on the thrill of the chase, observing the beagles at work and the overall enjoyment of the outdoors. There are no firearms or intentional killing of rabbits involved.
